There's this old adage, Bargians. Secrets, secrets are no fun. Unless you are a part of one. I'd kind of like to add onto that for a minute. So, uh, bear with me.

There are a few things that yeah, they're supposed to be kept secret. No one and their aunt Martha care about your latest bowel movement or who you had a crush on in the third grade. Seriously, they don't. Unless you're loud, obnoxious, spray tan like hell every chance you have, and get into cat fights over who gets the last can of soda. Those are fine. As are the family secrets, things like divorces, fights. I'm not saying "Spill your guts, Bargites, 'cause it's just not faaaaaaair~!" Those aren't the types of secrets I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the secrets that have to do with someone else. If someone knows something about your future that, you know, might be good to know for your own peace of mind, your own well-being, then hey. What the hell are you keeping it from them for? Because I pretty much guarantee that when they find out - and they will - things will be even worse than you imagined.

And yeah, for the record? Lies of omission totally count.

Yeah. I get it. But you're kind of playing into my initial point here.

If you'd never gone down and messed around, where would you be? Apocalypse central, or whatever the hell comes after that.

Whether or not destiny sucks or can be bent, telling people crap that's important to them is better than just letting them screw themselves over.

My point is as follows -

For the Apocalypse to have been averted, terrible things had to have happened. People had to die - for real. People were tortured.

If you knew you had to set one catastrophe to stop another, could you? Could you walk into your destiny knowing your friends have to die for the planet to be saved? You wouldn't search for something else? You would swallow this knowledge and let things happen as they would?

Or would you give up? Would you simply expect destiny to happen around you as you did nothing?

[He's quiet for a long moment, mulling that over]

When it comes to other people dying? I don't give a crap about destiny. Things will happen, or they won't. All I can try to do is keep as many people from dying as possible. There's no such thing as sacrificing. Because that just means you gave up.

There's always a way out, if that's what you're getting at. And people that tell you there isn't are the kind that just don't try.

You can't save everyone. If you know who to choose, you change everything. And that change is not always for the better, and you don't know either way. You could be ending the universe.

You choose who to save, you're full of crap.

I always got the theory, I just don't agree with it.

Universe breaking, timelines collapsing, changing the future, blah blah blah. It doesn't mean crap to the person the stuff is being kept from. It's still gonna suck, and it's still better to suck it up and tell people rather than have them find out on their own.

Because secrets never stay secrets forever. Even the world-breaking ones.
