There's this old adage, Bargians. Secrets, secrets are no fun. Unless you are a part of one. I'd kind of like to add onto that for a minute. So, uh, bear with me.

There are a few things that yeah, they're supposed to be kept secret. No one and their aunt Martha care about your latest bowel movement or who you had a crush on in the third grade. Seriously, they don't. Unless you're loud, obnoxious, spray tan like hell every chance you have, and get into cat fights over who gets the last can of soda. Those are fine. As are the family secrets, things like divorces, fights. I'm not saying "Spill your guts, Bargites, 'cause it's just not faaaaaaair~!" Those aren't the types of secrets I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the secrets that have to do with someone else. If someone knows something about your future that, you know, might be good to know for your own peace of mind, your own well-being, then hey. What the hell are you keeping it from them for? Because I pretty much guarantee that when they find out - and they will - things will be even worse than you imagined.

And yeah, for the record? Lies of omission totally count.

[Private to Natasha]
Coulson's dead, huh? Or did Rogers leave that out of his debrief?

[Private to Arkady]
Gorgeous, I needed to be drunk yesterday.

[Private to Charles]
Give me a reason to actually keep giving a shit, Prof. Because apparently even if I work to come back to life now, I just die again later.

[Private to Steve]
So. Rogers.

Coulson's dead.

I flew a nuke into space.

Loki's a fucking supervillain.

Game over.

That's pretty selfless for someone who attacked the helicarrier and set off the Hulk.

[And Clint, she wants to know if that's who he means when he says servants, like he's just another lackey, but that she won't give away.] How many other people died, that we should remember to stop?

And whose bones were crushed into the dust by that same beast? I've no attachment to the future that played out from my action.

[He gives a lazy shrug.] You are a child of Fury, why not prevent them all? When you leave this place, tell him to cease his gaming with the Tesseract. Tell him not to build weapons from it, and not to craft gates with it's power. Tell him to cast it back into the ocean, and I shall have neither the cause, nor the means to come to your planet.

Afraid it's not that simple.

[And there it is, no attachment to that future and now she's extra suspicious. You are not allowed to change the future so you win. >|] SHIELD answers to others.

Then do nothing. I care not. The time has passed for me, and I did with it what I would. Now you know the cause and consequence of my coming, and what you do with it is out of my hands.

[His plan here isn't even that complicated. He doesn't think the future will actually change for him, but there's a chance that changing history will create a pocket universe where half of the Avengers don't remember what a ginormous tool he is. Then he can claim credit for saving the world from himself, and his future trolling will be much enhanced by it.]

[Loki you are a strange, strange animal.]

Yeah, I get it. It's easier to put the pressure on us to stop you.

I don't believe you do 'get it' Ms Romanov.

I do not care if there is pressure on you to stop me or not. I do not care if you change the future, or save the world, or kill me the moment I step through the gateway onto your planet because I know that I am dead. Whatever you do will befall some other man in some other current of time where events flowed differently.

So what you do is completely meaningless to me. When I tell you how to stop my coming, it is because you specifically asked me about the other deaths you should remember to stop, and when I tell him how to prevent that of his friend, it is because I wish for a man who appears to have lost several friends this day not to lose another.

You seek conspiracy where there is none, and I tire of you seemingly endless whinging. Can we be done with this inanity now?

[There are a dozen things she could say, wants to say - like not many people would see an opportunity to change the past and not take it, especially when the outcome is their death, and if changing things when they happen for her and Tony means the Loki they deal with then isn't this Loki, then what does that mean for the people they are, will become, etc., and really it's all a little more philosophical and brings up more ethical debate than Natasha really cares for.]

Yeah, we're done.

Good.

[You wouldn't get a satisfying answer, Natasha. Loki knows all of those questions matter, he just straight up does not care.]
